TENNIS IN CORNWALL VILLAGE

The Town Courts in Cornwall Village are unique in so many ways. We are fairly confident that most residents are unaware how rare a public clay court setting is and how valuable it is to protect the resource. For tennis players a clay court is like a covered bridge. A reminder that the game is beautiful for a variety of reasons. But no one knew that one of the greatest assets tennis provides is the ability to socially distance while enjoying the outdoors and the company of like-minded friends and neighbors.

To that end Cornwall Park and Recreation, in partnership with Todd Piker, the USPTA , the state Health Department and the Selectmen, have crafted a strategy to enable these 2 clay courts on Pine Street to be opened and used this summer. The official opening is timed to coordinate with June 20 when the state of CT is slated to enter Phase 2.

There are several very important and mandated points to stress as players endeavor to plan their tennis outings:

1. These courts are for the exclusive use of residents of the Town of Cornwall and their guests. Any abuse of this provision will terminate their availability for all.
2. Usage now requires an ONLINE signup for a UserName and Password at the following website: www.reservemycourt.com
3. Once you are registered you can reserve a court (only permitted 24 hours in advance for a maximum of 1.5 hours). You will assign Cornwall Town Courts as your facility.
4. WalkOn is permitted but ONLINE registration takes precedence up until 15 minutes beyond the reservation time.
5. There will be ample signage to advise of the COVID-19 transmission risk and we look upon the following of these guidelines as representative of your willingness to play tennis safely. Any blatant disregard of these guidelines might well lead to privilege termination and net removal so please be thoughtful for us all.
6. Any teaching must have the express permission of the Cornwall Park and Rec and Todd Piker
